So if you have never been to the City of Gentle People, or what is known as Dumaguete City, then, here are some list of places and attractions that you may want to check so you can appreciate the beauty of this low key city in the island of Negros Oriental. The city is also called a University Town. Students from different international schools often times get their education as exchange students in Silliman University.
1. Rizal Boulevard
2. The St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral and its belfry tower.
3. Silliman Universtiy Campus. It's also called, a University by the sea as its area extends near the main boulevard.
4. Apo Island. The city is a gateway to this very beautiful island known to many sea adventurers.
5. Pulang Bato Falls. If you want to dip in some cold waters rich in sulphur, then this is the place. It has some healing touch as well according to the locals.
6. Monument of the 7 Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres who came to the Philippines in 1904 and landed first in the city. The mother school of all St. Paul University and affiliated schools in the country began at St. Paul University Dumaguete. That's an interesting history there.
7. Lab-as Restaurant. Lab-as literally means "fresh". So expect fresh seafoods that you can pick here. Ask for the dish called "Dumaguete Express". It's a mix of seafoods, bagnet with coconut milk.
8. Twin Lakes Balinsasayao. It's like almost an hour travel from the main city. It's a nice place to check and a natural attraction.
9. Silvanas. This delicacy is very famous in Dumaguete. The Sans Rival bakery makes these buttery desserts. They have branches in the city so it's not hard to find them.
10. Painit is Tiangge (Palengke). You have never visited Dumaguete city if you didn't try this sort of snacking on puto, suman, chocolate and milk drink. Very affordable. Price is way below Php 15.
